A collection of printed publicationsI began by looking at benches as commemorations, why this phenomenon exists and how memories can belong to specific places. I then looked at benches as places to exist in public, how they encourage conviviality and open conversation. By having conversations on and about benches, recording existing benches, seeing how they are used as a device in cinema and looking at messages on bench plaques I could explore human interactions and behaviours and the importance of third spaces.
